The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us that charity in Ramadan holds immense reward, especially when easing the struggles of those in need. Your Sadaqah and Fitrana with United Muslims will feed the hungry at suhoor and iftar. This year, we’re providing food, clean water, and spreading Islam’s message through mosques and community iftars. Let’s seek Allah’s blessings together!
Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is a time of fasting, reflection, and devotion. It marks the period when the Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Across the world, the Muslim ummah unites under the words of Allah, fasting from dawn to dusk and breaking their fast at the call to prayer. This sacred month strengthens our faith and fills our hearts with a deep desire to give back to the community. May Allah grant us the opportunity to observe Ramadan in a way that pleases Him. Each Ramadan is a blessing, and no act of worship or charity can ever feel like enough.
From the powerful nights of Laylatul Qadr to the heartfelt prayers of Tarawih, this month is a time of spiritual renewal and generosity. The desire to give through Sadaqah, Zakat, and Fitrana lies at the heart of Ramadan. At United Muslims, we are here to help you make the most of this sacred time. Let’s fully embrace this month by praying, giving, and supporting one another. Below, you’ll find the resources we’ve prepared to help you get started on your Ramadan journey.
Ramadan 2025 Calendar
Ramadan 2025 is expected to start on the evening of Friday, February 28, and end on the evening of Sunday, March 30, but the exact dates depend on the sighting of the moon. The Ramadan 2025 Timetable from United Muslims aims to help you stay on track with your fasting and prayers. It includes suhoor and iftar timings, as well as important dates like Laylat al-Qadr and Eid al-Fitr. Please note that the final version of this timetable will be uploaded soon after the moon is sighted.
Since the Islamic calendar follows the lunar cycle, Ramadan moves about ten days earlier each year. The month officially begins when Shaban ends, and this year, the first fast may fall on Friday, February 28, or Saturday, March 1, 2025. At the end of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, also based on moon sighting. This means Eid may fall on Sunday, March 30, or Monday, March 31, 2025.
Pay Your Fidya this Ramadan: A Second Chance for Your Ramadan Fast
Fidya is a compassionate solution in Islam for those who are unable to fast during Ramadan due to health issues or old age. If you are unable to observe your fasts, paying Fidya allows you to fulfill your religious obligation while helping those in need. By providing meals to the less fortunate, you can still take part in the spirit of Ramadan and ensure no one is left behind.
Fidya is calculated based on the cost of feeding one person two meals per day. In the US, the current rate is $6.32 per missed fast, or $189.65 for the full month of Ramadan 2025. To make it easier for you, we have prepared a Fidya calculator and a dedicated Fidya page where you can learn more and make your contribution.
Kaffarah: Rectifying Missed Fasts this Ramadan with Purpose
Kaffarah is a way to seek forgiveness if you have intentionally missed or broken a fast during Ramadan without a valid reason. By giving Kaffarah, you uphold the sanctity of Ramadan while providing food and support to those in need. According to Islamic teachings, Kaffarah requires either fasting for 60 consecutive days for each missed or broken fast or feeding 60 needy people per fast.
To make it easy, we have calculated Kaffarah at $379.30 per missed fast based on the cost of feeding 60 people in the US. Use our Kaffarah calculator and visit our Kaffarah page to learn more, calculate your amount, and make your payment easily.
Pay Your Zakat-ul-Fitr this Ramadan: A Gift of Unity Before Eid
Fitrana, also known as Zakat al-Fitr, is a mandatory charity given before Eid al-Fitr to purify our fasts and ensure that those in need can celebrate with dignity. It is an essential part of Ramadan, reminding us of the importance of generosity and community.
Many ask about the set amount for Eid Fitrana. This donation is based on the cost of staple foods and is typically $6.32 per person in the US. Every Muslim who can afford it must give Fitrana for themselves and on behalf of their dependents. To make giving easier, we have prepared a Fitrana calculator and a dedicated Fitrana page where you can learn more and complete your donation with ease.
