Our charitable education programs are focused on the most impoverished communities where children are deprived of their right to education due to ongoing conflicts, gender discrimination or poverty. Our mission is a brighter future, inclusion and equal opportunities for all children. We aspire for a world where no child is left behind or told that their dreams are too big.
With your generous donations towards our education programs, we are dedicated to breaking down the barriers that prevent children and especially young girls from receiving an education. Our child sponsorship and education programs work hand in hand to overcome the main obstacles such as extreme poverty, lack of infrastructure and geographic isolation that hinder a child’s education and success. We are also focused on dealing with the cultural biases and gender discrimination that keep young girls and some minority groups from accessing quality education. As a Muslim Ummah, we believe education is the right of every human being and we should do everything in our power to help other Muslims receive it.
Our education programs involve offering scholarships to bright minds, provide free school supplies and nutritious food, renovate school buildings and improve the overall infrastructure. We also focus on promoting awareness about the importance of education for all, especially for young girls and marginalized communities. Our vocational training and life essential skills programs are enabling widows and young women to run their households and keep their children fed. Why Children’s Education is Crucial
Everything we do at United Muslims is driven by hope and generosity of our donors. Here is how we put together small initiatives to run our charitable education programs:
Constructing and Revamping Schools: Inadequate or absent infrastructure is very common in areas where life is difficult as is. Lack of basic life facilities makes it impossible for children, especially girls to travel to far off places in order to get education. We work with our local partners to build new or renovate existing spaces that are closer to the isolated communities.
Deploying Mobile Classrooms: In remote areas where infrastructure is completely absent and resources are unavailable, we deploy mobile classrooms to reach as many children as possible.
Upgrading Educational Facilities: School must be a safe and fun place for children to learn, grow and enjoy every day. We are committed to upgrade facilities with IT systems, clean drinking water, and improved hygiene and sanitation conditions. Local artists often participate to turn classrooms into vibrant spaces that encourage curiosity, effective learning and innovation.
Supplying Essential Learning Materials: Textbooks, stationery items, uniforms and digital resources are crucial for a quality education system. We aim to keep our children and teachers equipped with all the necessary tools they need on a daily basis.
Addressing Mental Health Challenges: Our education program and Mindful Ummah platform go hand in hand to offer crucial psychological support that children and young girls need. Our mentors and psychiatrists work with students that are struggling to achieve their goals.
Investing in Educators: Behind every successful student is a dedicated teacher. We regularly invest in the training of our existing teachers and onboard new teachers to support employment. When teachers receive fair compensations, they are able to serve their communities for longer and better.

Why is Sponsoring Education an Act of Charity in Islam?
Education holds a special importance in Islam. It is a sacred duty mandated by Allah for all Muslims and it is our duty to attain and spread as much knowledge as possible. Islam advocates for the integration of worldly knowledge and Islamic studies to empower Muslims so they can lead their lives according to Islamic principles while also contributing positively to their communities.
Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) had a deep love for education and gaining wisdom. He even declared it a mandatory pursuit for all Muslims: “Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.” (Ibn Majah). On another occasion, he stated: ““God, His angels, and all those in the heavens and the Earth, even ants in their hills and fish in the water, send down blessings upon those who instruct people in beneficial knowledge.” (Tirmidhi)
Islamic history is rich with scholars who have made significant contributions to various fields of life such as science, medicine, philosophy and mathematics. Their contributions echo throughout the world and have been benefiting the world till date. By seeking knowledge, Muslims fulfill their sacred duty, increase their understanding of the universe and implement Islamic teachings more effectively in their lives and communities. Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) highlighted the sanctity of wisdom seekers in this hadith: “The ink of the scholar is more sacred than the blood of the martyr.” (Muslim)
