KAFFARAH

The Essence and Application of Kaffarah

Kaffarah highlights the importance of fulfilling Islamic obligations; it is an act of redemption for missing what is mandated by Allah. Fasting during Ramadan is compulsory for all Muslims; however, for those who have intentionally missed or broken fasts, Kaffarah offers a chance of redemption and atonement. As a Muslim Ummah, we should have a deep respect for fasting as a sacred obligation and understand that the deliberate neglect requires strict atonement. According to the teachings of Islam, Kaffarah for each missed fast can be performed by either feeding sixty poor and needy individuals with two meals a day or undertake an additional sixty days of consecutive fasting. At United Muslims, we offer an easy to use Kaffarah calculator and donation form to donate Kaffarah online.

When you trust us with your Kaffarah donations, you not only perform your duty as mandated by Allah but also become a beacon of hope for those who have been suffering throughout the year and rely on donations during the holy month of Ramadan. Our structured approach towards feeding the poor and needy, and those struck by natural disasters or conflicts help us proactively channel all donations to where they are most needed. Since Kaffarah is supposed to feed the poor, we make sure that all Kaffarah donations are solely used for feeding programs.

Kaffarah has a strict calculation mechanism and each day of missed fasting needs to be accounted for. At United Muslims, we follow the guidelines that agree with esteemed Islamic advisors and scholars so you can fulfill your Kaffarah obligations with ease and peace of mind. Following these guidelines and the current rate, the Kaffarah amount for each missed fast is £300. You can multiply this amount with the number of missed fasts to know the exact amount of Kaffarah owed. The amount of £300 has been calculated by multiplying the cost of feeding an individual with two meals a day which is at least £5 with 60. Remember, Kaffarah for each missed fast calls for feeding 60 needy individuals or fasting for sixty consecutive days in addition to the fasting during Ramadan. Our dedicated Kaffarah calculator has been designed for ease of use, offering you a straightforward method to accurately determine the total amount you owe, based on the days of fasting missed. By utilizing this tool, you can ensure your contribution meets the required Islamic standards and calculations.

United Muslims ensures that your Kaffarah donations reach the most impoverished communities who are struck by hunger and thirst. We utilize these donations in projects that focus on providing basic food staples, cooked hot meals and clean drinking water to orphans, widows, hafiz in madrassas and poor families often struck by poverty, conflicts and natural disasters. While you compensate for your missed fasts with Kaffarah, many Muslim households are helped in the process. As they partake in the celebration of holy Ramadan and the festivities of Eid, the act of atonement of one Muslim lifts the spirit of the whole Muslim Ummah.

Those who believe in Allah and the Last Day, establish regular prayers, pay their zakat, and fear none (but for Allah) will visit and preserve Allah’s mosques.

Kaffarah vs. Fidya: A Comparison

Kaffarah and Fidya both offer a chance of atonement and compensation for missed fasts during Ramadan; however, they cater to very different circumstances. Fidya is compensation for missed fasts due to valid reasons such as prolonged illness, old age or things beyond one’s control. It has a less stringent compensation mechanism than the Kaffarah itself. At the current rate, Fidya is only £5 per person for each missed fast.

Kaffarah on the other hand is a strict and stringent form of compensation for intentionally missed or broken fasts. At the current rate, Kaffarah is £300 per person for each missed fast. While both Kaffarah and Fidya donations are used to feed the poor and needy, the calculation of the amount owed by an individual varies greatly. We have dedicated calculators and donation forms for Fidya and Kaffarah so you can fulfill your obligations correctly and easily. Donate today and help us feed the Muslim brothers and sisters in need who heavily rely on the generosity of other Muslims.

Support United Muslims: Give your Kaffarh to us with 100% of your donations directly funding our initiatives.

Since its founding, United Muslims has ensured every donation goes to its projects, covering any credit card fees. For example, if a $100 donation drops to $97 due to fees, the organization adds $3. This strict separation of project and operational funds ensures full public donation utilization.
