It is the month when the Quran was revealed to our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). Muslims around the world come together, fasting from dawn to sunset and breaking their fast at the call to prayer. This blessed month brings us closer to Allah and fills our hearts with gratitude and kindness.

Each Ramadan is a gift and a reminder to do good and help others. Ramadan 2026 Calendar

Ramadan 2026 is expected to begin on the evening of Tuesday, 17 February 2026, and end on the evening of Wednesday, 18 March 2026, but the exact dates will depend on the sighting of the moon. In the United Kingdom, local moon sighting may place the start of Ramadan on Thursday, 19 February 2026, with Eid al-Fitr likely to fall on Saturday, 21 March 2026.

The Ramadan 2026 calendar from United Muslims will help you stay organised with your fasting and prayers throughout the holy month. It will include sehri and iftar timings, as well as important dates such as Laylatul Qadr and Eid al-Fitr. Please note that the final version of the timetable will be released soon after the official moon sighting.

Since the Islamic calendar follows the lunar cycle, Ramadan occurs about ten days earlier each year. The month begins when Shaban ends, and this year, the first fast may fall on Tuesday, 17 February, or Thursday, 19 February 2026, depending on the moon’s sighting. At the end of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, which means Eid may fall on Wednesday, 18 March, or Saturday, 21 March 2026.

Pay Your Fidya this Ramadan: A Second Chance for Your Ramadan Fast

Fidya is a compassionate solution in Islam for those who are unable to fast during Ramadan due to health issues or old age. If you are unable to observe your fasts, paying Fidya allows you to fulfil your religious obligation while helping those in need. By providing meals to the less fortunate, you can still participate in the spirit of Ramadan and ensure no one is left behind.

Fidya is calculated based on the cost of feeding one person two meals per day. In the UK, the current rate is £5 per missed fast, or £150 for the full month of Ramadan 2026. Kaffarah: Rectifying Missed Fasts this Ramadan with Purpose

Kaffarah is a way to seek forgiveness if you intentionally miss or break a fast during Ramadan without a valid reason. By giving Kaffarah, you uphold the sanctity of Ramadan while providing food and support to the less fortunate. According to Islamic teachings, Kaffarah requires either fasting for 60 consecutive days for each missed or broken fast or feeding 60 needy people per fast.

Fasting during Ramadan is compulsory for all Muslims. Kaffarah is an act of atonement and compensation for the intentionally missed or broken fasts. Since Kaffarah donations feed the poor, it serves two objectives; Personal redemption and community assistance.

Calculation of Kaffarah

Kaffarah has a strict calculation mechanism, and each day of missed fasting needs to be accounted for. At United Muslims, we follow the guidance of esteemed Islamic advisors and scholars, so you can fulfil your Kaffarah obligations with ease and peace of mind. Based on the current rate, the Kaffarah amount for each missed fast is £300. You can multiply this amount by the number of missed fasts to know the exact amount of Kaffarah owed. The amount of £300 has been calculated by multiplying the cost of feeding an individual with two meals a day, which is at least £5 by 60. Remember, Kaffarah for each missed fast calls for feeding 60 needy individuals or fasting for sixty consecutive days in addition to the fasting during Ramadan. Our dedicated Kaffarah calculator has been designed for ease of use. Just add the number of missed fasts and calculate the due Kaffarah amount. By utilising this tool, you can ensure your contribution meets the required Islamic standards and calculations.

Differences Between Kaffarah and Fidya

Kaffarah and Fidya both allow Muslims to make up for missed fasts during Ramadan, but , they are very differen. Fidya is compensation for missed fasts due to valid reasons such as long-term illness, old age or things beyond one’s control. It has a less stringent compensation mechanism than the Kaffarah itself. The current Fidya rate is only £5 per person for each missed fast.

Kaffarah, on the other hand, applies when fasts are intentionally missed or broken without a valid reason. It is a stricter form of compensation, with the current rate set at £300 per person for each missed fast.

Both Kaffarah and Fidya donations are used to feed the poor and needy, but the way they are calculated differently. What is Riba?

Riba, most commonly known as interest, is the extra amount charged on borrowed money. Whether it comes through bank savings, loans, or mortgages, this excess is strictly forbidden in Islam. It is required for those who cannot fast due to valid reasons such as illness or old age. Fidya donations not only compensate for the missed fasts but also helps donors remain connected to the spirit of Ramadan.

Calculation of Fidya

Fidya is calculated for each day of missed fasting. It can be given by feeding a needy individual with two full meals or donating the equivalent amount in staple food. The accepted amount per missed fast is generally set at 3 kgs, which ensures compliance across different Islamic perspectives. For Muslims who are permanently unable to fast due to health reasons, paying Fidya is necessary. You can use our online calculator to work out the amount owed. At the current rate, Fidya is set at £5 per missed fast.

Kaffarah and Fidya are different in Islam. Fidya is given when Muslims miss fasts for valid reasons such as illness or old age. What Is an Aqiqah Donation?

An Aqiqah donation is a Sunnah act in Islam performed to give thanks to Allah for the birth of a child. It involves the sacrifice of livestock on behalf of a newborn, with the meat distributed among family, friends, and those in need.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) encouraged performing Aqiqah on the seventh day after birth by sacrificing two animals for a baby boy and one animal for a baby girl. If it cannot be done on the seventh day, the Aqiqah donation may be made at a later time.

What is Zakat

Zakat, the third pillar of Islam, is not just a charitable act but an obligation for every financially able Muslim. Allah has commanded this beautiful form of charity so that those who are blessed may support the underprivileged. The concept of Zakat is rooted in equality and harmony within the Muslim Ummah. It purifies wealth and brings barakah.

How to Calculate Your Zakat

According to most scholars, the Nisab threshold is the value of 87.48 grams of gold or 612.36 grams of silver. Our Zakat calculator offers easy calculation of the Zakat amount owed on the surplus of gold and silver held over one lunar year at current rates. Zakat is usually 2.5% of surplus wealth and assets, and our calculator follows the same principle.

Who Can Receive Your Zakat
