Palwasha’s story is one of resilience. It represents a journey from despair to dignity, made possible by our kind donors.

She is a Pakistani citizen suffering from autism. Her condition deeply affected how she processed the world around her before we found her. For instance, she struggled to communicate properly and found simple tasks challenging.

This had led to emotional barriers growing around her. She couldn’t maintain any social connections and started to feel alone in a bustling world when growing up.

Marriage, Misunderstanding, and Divorce

At an early age, a marriage proposal arrived for Palwasha. Her family saw it as a way to secure her future and accepted the proposal with hope. However, marriage demands constant social skills, emotional compromise, and managing unspoken expectations.

Palwasha couldn’t meet these demands because of her condition, but her husband’s family didn’t understand autism. This led to misunderstandings and eventually, divorce.

Life after divorce and her father’s passing was extremely difficult for her. Poverty tightened its grip, and Palwasha’s role in her family changed. She found peace with the children because she did not need to wear a mask around them. She was also a comforting presence for them.

One Eid, her family and friends had no new clothes and very little to eat. Palwasha decided to celebrate Eid joyfully by preparing chicken curry.

“Normally we can’t afford meat, but today I made chicken curry for my friends, and we celebrated Eid joyfully.” Palwasha shares with United Muslims’ volunteer

That simple Eid meal became a powerful symbol representing her resilience.

How United Muslims Charity Stepped In

Our team met Palwasha to assess her situation. We saw through her immediate needs and immense potential.

We started with financial assistance to ease the daily pressure on Palwasha and allow her family to focus on healing instead of just survival. We provided them with consistent food to remove their worry about the next meal.

We also offered emotional counselling that allowed her to process her trauma. She started understanding her autistic behaviour, and our professionals helped her build coping strategies.

We encouraged her to engage with the community to break the isolation that had confined her for her whole life. This holistic approach turned her into a more confident person.

Bringing hope through small acts of kindness—a meal, a helping hand, or a gift can light up a child’s day.
