BY THE NUMBERS

The Situation in UK

280,000 >

People Have no Home
On any given night, over 280,000 people in the UK have no place to call home. This staggering number includes men, women, and children who face the harsh reality of sleeping in cold, unsafe, and uncertain conditions. The increasing rate of homelessness reflects a dire need for shelter, support, and compassionate intervention.

4

Million Children Living in Poverty
Nearly 4 million children in the UK are living in poverty, equating to 9 children in every classroom of 30. These children face immense barriers to their education, health, and overall well-being. Growing up in poverty can limit future opportunities and perpetuate a cycle of hardship, making early intervention crucial.

8.4

Million Face Food Insecurity
In one of the world's wealthiest nations, it is a profound tragedy that around 8.4 million people in the UK struggle to afford to eat every day. Families and individuals are forced to choose between heating their homes and purchasing sufficient nutritious food, with children often the most affected by this harsh dilemma.
OUR COMMITMENT

What happens when you support communities in the UK?

Your donations fund the provision of emergency shelters, transitional housing, and support services for those facing homelessness. By addressing this urgent need, we not only offer a safe place to stay but also provide counselling and job placement services to help individuals regain their independence.
Contributions help supply essential clothing, school supplies, and nutritious meals for children living in poverty. By ensuring that children have access to basic necessities and a proper education, we aim to break the cycle of poverty and open doors to brighter futures, supporting families across the Muslim community and beyond.
Your support helps fund food banks and meal distribution programs that serve the hungry and underprivileged. By providing access to healthy, halal food, we ensure that no individual or family goes hungry, addressing the needs within Muslim communities while extending help to anyone in need, regardless of their background.
Donations are used to offer tutoring, mentoring, and educational resources for children struggling academically. By focusing on education, we empower the youth within the Muslim community and wider society, enabling them to achieve their full potential and contribute positively to their communities.
Your contributions support health screening programs, mental health services, and fitness activities designed to improve the overall health and well-being of the community. By addressing both physical and mental health, we provide comprehensive care that benefits all, particularly those in underprivileged Muslim areas.
Funds are allocated towards projects that strengthen community bonds, promote Islamic faith and cultural understanding. From community centres to interfaith dialogue initiatives, we invest in programs that foster a sense of belonging and support among Muslims and the wider UK population.

Deepening Our Impact: 'Helping UK' Initiative Explained

In our own backyard, the challenges confronting ethnic minorities and Muslim communities are significant and numerous, calling for immediate and dedicated action. Since 2008, United Muslims has been at the forefront of addressing these concerns, deeply committed to fostering change and uplifting those in need.

Our mission is to empower these communities, helping them overcome barriers to success and providing pathways out of poverty, exploitation, and marginalisation. We actively collaborate with local organisations, offering support through funding, capacity building, and partnership development to amplify their impact and reach. Additionally, we initiate a range of programs specifically designed to aid our brothers and sisters in the UK, ensuring they have the resources and support needed to thrive.

Fostering Economic Empowerment

United Muslims is dedicated to empowering communities to rise above economic challenges. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, “The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.” (Al-Tirmidhi) Guided by this, our efforts aim to provide the underprivileged with resources and skills for sustainable living. From financial literacy workshops to small business support, we’re not just offering aid; we’re equipping individuals and families with the tools to build a secure, self-sufficient future.

Youth and Family Development

The family unit is the cornerstone of a strong community. Our programs focus on nurturing healthy family relationships and providing youth with constructive outlets and educational opportunities. We organise workshops, family counselling, and community activities that reinforce Islamic values and promote positive development. “The best of you are those who are best to their families,” the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) reminded us (Tirmidhi), and under this guidance, we strive to foster environments where families can thrive together.

Empowering Muslim Women

Empowering women is key to the prosperity of the whole community. We provide educational programs, vocational training, and support groups to help Muslim women realise their potential and contribute fully to society. By creating spaces where women can learn, grow, and lead, we adhere to the teachings of Islam which advocate for women’s education and empowerment. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, “Seeking knowledge is a duty upon every Muslim,” and this includes our sisters in faith.

Supporting Refugees and Asylum Seekers

The plight of refugees and asylum seekers is close to our hearts. Following the Islamic principle of brotherhood, we offer shelter, legal assistance, language classes, and psychological support to help them integrate and heal. “And if one of the polytheists seeks your protection, then grant him protection so that he may hear the words of Allah…” (Quran 9:6) guides our approach to assisting those in need of refuge, regardless of their background.

Supporting Mosques and Madrassas in the UK

Mosques and madrassas serve as community hubs and centres of learning. By supporting these institutions, we’re investing in the spiritual and educational well-being of our community. This includes renovations, educational programs, and services that cater to the needs of their congregations. Our support ensures these sacred spaces can continue to offer guidance, learning, and solace to all.

Distributing Quran and Translation Copies

In our quest to spread knowledge and understanding, we distribute copies of the Quran and its translations. This initiative aims to make the divine words accessible to Muslims and interested non-Muslims alike, fostering a deeper understanding of our faith. “Indeed, this Quran guides to that which is most suitable…” (Quran 17:9) embodies our hope that these efforts will enlighten hearts and minds.

Promoting Islamic Teachings to Muslims and Non-Muslims

Our outreach extends to sharing the peaceful and compassionate teachings of Islam. Through interfaith dialogues, educational seminars, and community service, we aim to build bridges of understanding and mutual respect. By embodying the Quranic principle, “Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction…” (Quran 16:125), we commit to presenting Islam in its true, benevolent form.

The best companion to Allah is the best to his companions, and the best neighbor to Allah is the best to his neighbors.
